The Silver Shield Stacker Series continues with this release featuring a medieval targe! This remarkable replica is inspired by a museum piece from the Metropolitan Museum of Art dating back to the 1500s. Made from pure silver, these stackers are also augmented with an antique polish, which gives them an appealing, old-fashioned quality.In Old English, targe was another name for shield. By the 1700s, it had morphed into the word target. But during the Middle Ages, a targe was commonly used to describe the shield held by a knight in a jousting tournament. During a tournament, a knight might have received extra points if their opponent’s lance broke. As such, the shields were covered with raised trellises, which could snag the lance and cause it to shatter.These stackers are part of a series that features various legendary shields throughout history.
