Background
Eddie Brock. Venom. First introduced as a cameo character in the Web of Spider-Man, issue #18 in 1986 and as a main character in The Amazing Spider-Man issue #300 in 1988, the anti-hero is inter-twined with an alien symbiote which both seeks revenge for the root cause of his failed journalism career and vigilante justice. Venom viciously torments Peter Parker, as his main adversary. Simultaneously, the anti-hero obscures the lines of morality, as he imposes his idea of justice upon those that he deems deserving of it. As one of the most iconic comic book villains of all time, Venom is the main feature of this 1 oz Perth Mint 9999 pure silver coin.
Contained on the reverse side is the alien infused symbiote, Venom, in true menacing form. The characteristic snarl is illustrated with expert engraving, highlighting his sharp jagged teeth and tongue. Venom is in an action-oriented pose, with one arm outstretched ready to grab and crush all in his way. His title is displayed below the image, which is enhanced by a stunning proof finish over a matted background.
The obverse side depicts the contemporary effigy of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The image is encapsulated by the Queen’s title, the $1 denominational value, and the rounds 9999 purity.
