The third release in the Quokka series from The Perth Mint is now available. The Quokka is a small type of wallaby found mainly in the southwest region of Western Australia. About the size of a cat, the Quokka has thick, grey-brown fur, a broad face, shiny black eyes and round furry ears. Thanks to its cute, smiley appearance and an acceptance of humans, it has become a popular subject for ‘selfies’ in the age of social media. With their always smiling facial expressions, they became famous all over the world and one of the most popular photo motives for Australia vacationers.

Coin’s observe: bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the coin denomination “1 Dollar”
Coin’s reverse: depicts two Quokkas at a pond. They are surrounded by daisies, rocks and grass. The design also includes the inscription “QUOKKA” and the traditional mintmark “P” of the Perth Mint
Each coin also has a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass
