The Royal Mint introduced the Royal Tudor Beasts Collection in 2022. Similar to the popular Queen’s Beasts collection that concluded in 2021, the series borrows its imagery from British heraldry. The ten coins of the Tudor Beasts collection are based upon the statues that guard the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace, which are emblematic of the legacy of King Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour. This fifth release of the series is dedicated to the Seymour Unicorn, a symbol of purity and fertility gifted to Jane by the King.
Coin Highlights
This 2024 Seymour Unicorn coin contains one Troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver.
The stunning imagery of the 38.61 mm diameter coin is highlighted by a gleaming proof finish.
Incuse lettering is featured on the coin’s smooth edge.
The coin will ship as originally packaged by The Royal Mint.
Mintage will not exceed 5,500 pieces.
Beautiful Seymour Unicorn Design
Obverse: A rendition of His Majesty King Charles III appears on the obverse, surrounded by the inscriptions “CHARLES III,” “D.G. REX. F.D.,” “2 POUNDS” and “2024.” Renowned British sculptor Martin Jennings created the royal effigy, which received His Majesty’s personal approval.
Reverse: The Seymour Unicorn is featured on the reverse, with a shield adorned with the coat of arms of Jane Seymour in its grip. Inscribed “SEYMOUR UNICORN” and “2024,” with “HAMPTON COURT PALACE ROYAL TUDOR BEASTS” located on the edge of the coin. The breathtaking heraldic image is an example of the work of acclaimed British illustrator David Lawrence.
