Alderney, the northernmost Channel Island, played a strategic role due to its proximity to Normandy. The island’s fortifications, constructed by German forces, underscore its wartime importance and the severe conditions faced by both soldiers and civilians.
The obverse side of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III, crafted by renowned artist Jody Clark. This portrayal, devoid of a crown, symbolizes a modern approach to royal imagery, with inscriptions that include “ALDERNEY,” “DEI GRA REX,” “CHARLES III,” and “2024.”
The reverse side captures the historic D-Day landing, honoring the valor of American, British, and Canadian troops.
